UP NEXT

luzAzul, an immersive opera for infants

After a successful premiere in 2023, the opera for infants — luzAzul — will tour internationally over the next year (2024/2025) visiting Malta, Turkey and New York City. Originally a co-production between Princeton University and CultureHub, Bare Opera is pleased to help support this next phase of the project as a producer.

luzAzul explores symmetry, the awareness of feelings and connection, the mirror that the interaction offers to both baby and caregiver and the ability of experiencing awe together. This opera awakens the small baby in all of us, and gives our tiniest audience members the chance to experience the artistic power of music, dance and interactive technology.​

one drop, a new opera by thomas cabaniss

Alongside American Opera Projects and Opera on Tap, we are honored to co-produce the workshop of this new operatic work by critically acclaimed composer, Thomas Cabaniss. The opera is based on the 1931 Broadway play — Brass Ankle — by Dubose Hayward, co-author of Porgy and Bess. The piece is a multi-faceted examination of whiteness in America. The workshop will be directed by David Herskovits (Target Margin Theater) with music direction by David Rosenmeyer (Firesongs, Maria de Buenos Aires).
